Scenario 1: Robot Alpha approaches robot Beta, fires it's pneumatic weapon, misses, and blows the end cap out of it's actuator. Weapon pieces shower the arena, the weapon arm trails uselessly behind Alpha and interferes with mobility. The CO2 supply evacuates, creating a huge cloud of mist. No additional damage is done to either Alpha or Beta for the remainder of the match.

The Robot Fighting League guidelines mandate 6 damage points divided between both 'bots -- how many do you award each 'bot here?.

Answer: 3 points to each 'bot: "Damage self-inflicted by a robot's own systems and not directly or indirectly caused by contact with the other robot or an active arena hazard will not be counted for scoring purposes."

Opinion: I don't think that you can separate damage caused by your opponent and damage you do to your own 'bot. If the team overloads a system or makes an engineering mistake, it should count against them.
