smoke
Scenario 2: Robot Alpha flips robot Beta. Beta is still mobile, but it's weaponry is completely unuseable when inverted. The effort from flipping Beta overloads circuitry in Alpha and it begins smoking. The smoke from Alpha continues to the end of the match, but without loss of functionality. No further damage is taken by either robot. You judge that Alpha spent a little more time on attack over the match.

The Robot Fighting League 'Damage/Aggression' scoring calls for 6 damage points and 5 aggression points to be divided between both 'bots. Which 'bot wins this match and by what score?

Answer: Beta wins with 6 points to Alpha's 5 points.

"Flip over (or being propelled onto bumper or other obstacle) causing some loss of mobility or control or making it impossible to use a weapon" is considered 'minor' damage. "Continuous smoke" is classed as 'significant' damage, even when not associated with power or weapon funtionality loss. Damage points go 4 to 2 to Beta.

Aggression is defined in the RFL guidelines as: "...the relative amount of time each robot spends attacking the other. Attacks do not have to be successful to count for aggression points..." Aggression points go 3 to 2 for Alpha.

Opinion: One robot is completely functional but smoking -- the other has had it's weapon disabled. Giving the match to the reduced-functionality robot makes no sense to me.
