pancake flip
Scenario 3: Robot Alpha is a pneumatic flipper. Robot Beta is an invertible rammer. The two robots continuously charge each other throughout the match. At each and every contact (say, 10 times), Alpha flips Beta high into the air, often bouncing it off the arena walls. Beta is unharmed by the repeated flips and inflicts a small dent in Alpha's flipper support which does not effect functionality.

Under the Robot Fighting League sanctioned scoring, which robot wins this match?

Answer: Beta wins the match either 6 to 5, or 7 to 4 depending on which robot is given the odd aggression point (no aggression ties are permitted).

"Flip over (or being propelled onto bumper, ramp, or other obstacle) causing no loss of mobility or loss of weapon functionality" is classed as 'trivial' and is not scored. A "Non-penetrating cut or dent" is classed as 'cosmetic' and is scored, tiping damage points to Beta. This forces a 4 to 2 damage point assignment in favor of Beta.

Opinion: Alpha clearly controlled the match, but control counts for nothing in 'damage/aggression' scoring. The Robot Fighting League sanctions use of D/A scoring and used it at their 2004 RFL Championships. Would you use it?
