The boy's not right. Stephen Buxton

Following expensive psychotherapy (running into hundreds of cents), Stephen has recovered and now only gibbers slightly when he sees a pigeon.  His employers decided to give Stephen the opportunity of turning professional in magic as he certainly wasn't being professional in anything else.  Stephen now spends his time perfecting the Elmstone's Double Handed Finger Cull Count, as his ambition is to one day win a competition.  "This will happen," he explains, "even if it means organising a competition that can only be entered by people calling themselves Stephen Buxton."

You can send messages, moral support, or preferably your credit card details to Stephen at: stephen@mkeynes80.freeserve.co.uk.

Pitch black. Don Drake

After I was born in Colon, MI, my Mom swore she was giving up children forever. After being lucky enough to meet Harry Blackstone, Sr., his wife told him he couldn't baby sit me anymore because I was too destructive for a 5 year old! I'm not really lecturing on Black art, I'm just trying to 'blend in'! See you at the Castle soon!

Plays with dolls. Gordon Drayson

I am a full time professional magician, based in London, England. I perform all types of magic, from Childrens parties (that is the games and everything else, apart from food) through Close-up (mainly in the top London hotels) to an Illusion show with 2 assistants. I have also just started Punch and Judy, and am very pleased with the puppets I have.

You can contact me at: Gordon@disbelieving.com, and please take a look at my web site: http://www.disbelieving.com as I believe it is one of the biggest Magician's sites in England.

Squares! Mark Farrar

I'm an amateur magician from England, having been interested in magic since about 1976. I am a member of the Northamptonshire Magicians' Club and the International Brotherhood of Magicians, as well as being an Associate Of The Inner Magic Circle. My performing interests are mainly close-up card magic, mentalism and mnemonics, although I enjoy watching most types of magic and other "allied arts" such as juggling, ventriloquism, etc. However, my "speciality" is Magic Squares, to the extent that I wrote a book on the subject to gain entrance to and subsequent promotion within The Magic Circle. You can check out details of this book and other stuff at my Web Site: http://freespace.virgin.net/mark.farrar1/

Preface guy. Matthew Field

A lover of card magic and the magical literature, Matt has edited 45 books (35 for Richard Kaufman) as well as having written the rarely read Preface to Eugene Burger's "Strange Ceremonies." A student of magic for 30 years, Matt still has a lot to learn. Member of IBM and SAM, he toils by day as the advertising director for a large New York City department store. For 25 years a broadcasting executive, his job was cut, not before he produced the video "On the Pass" for Kaufman and providing the music for the tape. "Cut this," says Matt, proffering his deck. Quote: "Practice your pass."

Drives fishmobile! Jim Fish

Look! Up near the proscenium! Is it a bard? Is it a mage? NO, it's Jim Fish! Able to astound and confuse the EG with a single post, our hero was born on a planet in a far-away galaxy. Founder of the Bay-area magician's non-group, Jim continues in his quest to turn your mind into the same stuff that his is made of.

Hot seat stooge. Brandon Kirkland *A Gentleman of Magic*

I've been studying magic for 10 years now and concentrate in close-up and parlor magic. You might also know me for my performance as the "stooge" at the 1998 A-1 convention during Phill Cass's performance on his hot chair. I like to emulate the style of the the 20's and 30's where magicians always wore a suit, or at least a dress jacket, and everyone was more polite and respectful than today. My style might be old fashion, but my ideas and gadgets are of new. My other hobbies are online gaming and raising carnivorous plants. My two favorite magicians are Jim Pace and Greg Wilson (the other Greg Wilson). Email:Dazeal@hotmail.com

Needs scanner... Bob Klase

Bob Klase started doing magic when he was 8. He's slightly older now. As his skills developed people began to say "Hey, could you do that again..... someplace else!". He had a career that allowed him to really float in the air with no strings, wires, mirrors or silly magician's tricks- he spent 25 years as an army helicopter pilot. That engagement ended in 1995 and he's now starting a career performing close-up and stand-up for bigger people. He finally has a color scanner.

Fell off bus. Frederick Klein

A man far behind the times, Frederick Klein landed in New England in the early 1980’s. Being thoroughly impressed with his findings, he decided to stay - a fortuitous choice since his tramp steamer departed under cover of darkness the following night! Frederick (friends call him Fred) has appeared in a variety of theatrical projects - musicals, comedies, and dramas. About twenty years ago, he began combining magic and theater. He has performed at banquets, receptions, private parties, children’s shows, and retirement communities - spanning the Eastern mainland from Boston to the greater Gulf Coast. When not sharing the wonders of the arcane arts, he composes and arranges music that occasionally finds its way into a show. When asked recently where he comes up with his off-the-wall magic style, he answered: "I really don’t know. My mother claims I was born this way. She’s hoping one day medical science will find a cure…"

Until then, you can be sure he’s either lurking on the EG or waiting for performance inquiries at: fjkpublic@yahoo.com

Island guy! Bob Knigge

Bob performs Close-up and Platform magic and worked at the original Magic Island in Newport Beach, California. Bob also has a lecture called, "Magic from Me to You".

Head Lemming Simon Lovell

Just say that I'm Flash Mildews biggest fan! Hey I even wore my Flash Mildew t-shirt while judging the SAM stage contest!!

Dr. Maruccistein, I presume? Peter Marucci

Peter Marucci is a full-time professional magician and comedian -- proving, finally, that he can't hold a REAL job. He also writes the Showtime column in the Linking Ring magazine and Bizarre Bazaar in the e-zine Visions (www.online-visions.com). For the past eight years he has lectured to magic groups and conventions in Canada and the U.S., with a new lecture each year. His current lecture is titled Bizarre Magic, which is about -- well, YOU figure it out!

He also created the amazing Set Your Hand On Fire trick, seen here. Unfortunately, most performers can only do it twice.

It's Sports Night! Pete McCabe

Pete had a career as a professional bowler until he grew an enormous red pimple on his nose, and began worshiping a floating, blueberry filled, yellow donut he calls "Ralph". Go figure.

Oh, and he wrote for some sitcom on ABC.

Disturbo. "That Little Disturbo" -- Flash Mildew

A living legend amongst magicians worldwide, Flash continues to tour, lecture, and avoid extradition. In this photo we see Mr. Mildew lecturing in Sweden. He is attempting to give the "one finger salute" to his host, and failing. No other magi can (or would want to) duplicate the magical experience that is pure Mildew!

Visit the Mildew Archive!

Inflated Larry Moss

Larry Moss first started exposing himself to the public by turning tricks on New York City street corners in 1985. He has done his part to inflate the popularity of balloon twisting by running workshops, writing a book, and maintaining Balloon HQ, a comprehensive guide to balloon art.

Another fish? "Mullet"

A rare photo of Mullet performing "guerrilla magic". Here he has crashed the World Magic Summit disguised as an Air Force officer, and has just completed producing an entire chicken dinner from Marc Desouza's navel. Though Mullet rarely performs for magicians, notice the stunning artistry with which produces the meal without even unbuttoning Desouza's shirt (thank god!) Draped over Mullet's left arm is the foulard ready for the famous "Zombie Nuclear Weapon O' Death"

Mullet's next project: "Streep Magic" currently being shot with a grainy black and white 8mm camera on the set of Meryl Streep's latest film.

Ex-keyboards Bill Packard - The MAGIC MAN

I'm a full-time entertainer from Atlanta, specializing in magic and balloon sculptures. I earned a Performance and Teaching Degree in Music in 1976. After twelve years "on the road" singing and playing keyboards with various bands, culminating with the hit country-rock group Atlanta, I delivered pizza while trying to establish a new career in entertainment, this time in magic. Now I fulfill over 400 magical engagements per year, and continue to twist balloons at Underground Atlanta (along with my wife Tammy) whenever there's a break in my schedule. As a local general business magician, I do a lot of kid shows, but also have the opportunity to perform close-up, standup, and even stage illusions for corporate affairs. Email:BPack95323@aol.com

Took wrong turn Larry Thornton

It seems I must have made a "wrong turn" down one library aisle at the tender age of about nine or ten, and that's when I discovered magic books. I haven't been a normal person since! At about the age of 15, I joined a correspondence club for teenagers, called The American Magic Club. From there, I joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians where I have earned the prestigious "Order of Merlin". In the mid 1970's I started performing magic shows for children and family audiences in and around Calgary.

Take up the carpet! Anton van Helden

Inspired as I was by a performance by the Legendary Flash Mildew I decided to spend less time cutting up decomposing whale carcasses and more time cutting cards. Close up magic with cards is my passion....but I am perhaps more famous for a performance of chosen card in blue whale....the revelation of the age!!! Don't try this at home....for one thing you would need a very big home...but if you do....at least take up the carpet first!

Cheers Anton
