After many false starts, 2015 marked the return of BattleBots to television -- this time on a 'real' broadcast network. A short series of six episodes featuring a scant 24 competitors aired in June and July of 2015 on ABC.
The tournament was filmed May 21 thru 23, 2015 in Vallejo, California. The rules allowed for a maximum weight of 250 pounds -- an odd weight class not previously seen in combat robotics. The show producers selected four defeated robots to re-enter the tournament in a 'second chance' draft -- it was a TV show, not a true tournament. |
