The second year for BattleBots on the Discovery cable network carried over the 'Fight Night' format from the 2018 season. BattleBots season 9 aired as sixteen episodes in prime time on Friday nights over the summer of 2019. The shows were re-shown on the following Tuesday evening on Discovery's 'Science Channel' with an extra few minutes of bonus material.
Sixty-nine robots entered the competition in the 'Fight Night' format carried over from last year. This format pits the robots in a series of two or three robot qualifying fights with the match-ups determined entirely by the producers of the show. Robots that survive the qualifying matches are ranked by the show producers to fill sixteen slots in the single-elimination championship tournament. The championship tournament tree appears below. |
